Following last year's successful online conference, we are pleased to announce the 2026 international Zoom conference on Saturday 11 July, starting at 9.00am UK time (8.00am UTC), which gives Australians and New Zealanders a convenient time to join, in their afternoon and evening.
The event is free, but early booking is encouraged so that we can ensure sufficient capacity.
Three excellent speakers have been confirmed:
Dr Mesut Uyar – 'The Ottoman offensive at Anzac on 19 May 1915: anatomy of a disaster'. The 19 May assault was the greatest Ottoman blunder of the campaign. This lecture examines what went wrong, with particular attention to the role of III Corps Commander Esad Pasha.
Greg O'Reilly – 'Machine guns and Monash Valley/Gully – April/May 1915'. How former instructors from the School of Musketry at Hythe grouped machine guns into batteries at Anzac, solving the problem of Monash Valley a month before the fortifications that Charles Bean later credited.
Lewis Frederickson – 'Holding Quinn's Post: one of the finest feats at Anzac'. The dramatic story of Quinn's Post from the April landing through to the truce and beyond – garrisoned in turn by Australian infantry, Light Horse, New Zealand infantry and Royal Marines.
