The GA at the opening of the 2024 Field of Remembrance

Thursday 7th November saw the opening of the 2024 Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey.

As members will know, the Gallipoli Association has a plot every year. In 2024, it was one of 308 plots laid out in the names of military associations and other organisations. This year saw a new plot for the Sea Cadet Corps.

The event was opened by the Duchess of Gloucester who stepped in for the Queen due to her recent illness.

Please take a look at our series of photographs which we hope capture the day and also the relevance of the Field of Remembrance.

Once again we would like to place on record our grateful thanks to GA member Clive Summerson who plants the crosses on behalf of members. This year was particularly tricky due to such hard ground but Clive managed it for us. Clive also writes out each dedication that you provide.

Many thanks also go to the contributors of the series of photographs, Clive Summerson, Adam Sutcliffe, GA Events Co-Ordinator Hester Huttenbach and Nigel Divers.

Don't forget that the Field of Remembrance takes place each year and if you would like to remember a fallen soldier of Gallipoli then please get in touch when the time comes in 2025.  We would love to get the GA plot filled as much as possible, Clive's pen hasn't ran out yet!!

Thank you.
Warren Smith, Communications Officer & Trustee
