GA members participate in Cenotaph march-past on Remembrance Sunday 2024

Another successful event, today at the Cenotaph.

Due to engineering works on the railways and sickness, six of our original members unfortunately, had to cancel their attendance. However, we were blessed with a mild and dry weather which made for a pleasant start to the day.

Once Big Ben had chimed 11.00am and the two minute silence had been observed, the King laid the first wreath. He was followed by other members of the Royal household and then the political dignitaries, before the short service which was led by the Lord Bishop of London, Dame Sarah Mullally.

The youngest member of our group, five year old Arden Doeh was given the honour of handing over the Gallipoli Association wreath to be laid at the Cenotaph. He was absolutely brilliant and loved every minute of the day, especially the marching.

On our return to Horse Guards, the salute this year was taken by Prince William.

Thirteen of us then descended on the Admiralty public house for a well deserved sit down and lunch.

As usual we were a geographically mixed bunch, with two from America, one from Australia, two from Wales and the rest scattered around England.

Afterwards, Arden told his parents, that “when he was grown up he was going to marry Princess Charlotte.”
