The Worcesters at Gallipoli
by Ian Binnie
The talk will detail the fortunes of the two battalions of the Worcester Regiment that served in the campaign, one regular and one a service battalion. Both suffered very high casualties, at Helles and ANZAC. Ian will also describe the fate of the Worcester Yeomanry who also suffered at Suvla. As often occurred the units displayed great bravery but were horribly exposed in badly co-ordinated attacks.
Ian Binnie is well known to members as the former Education Co-ordinator of the GA. He has over his seven year career done many talks on the campaign both live and on Zoom. These have been talks at museums and to community groups and at a number of conferences. He holds the GA record for the number of attendees at a Zoom presentation, over 170, achieved during lockdown.
