Fields of Remembrance 2011
On November 11th the Gallipoli Association paid tribute to those who bravely served and died during the Gallipoli Campaign at the Royal British Legion’s Fields of Remembrance, Westminster Abbey, London.
The Associations ‘Gallipoli’ plot was but one in the Fields of scarlet poppies, a touching symbol of Remembrance and tribute to the memory of ex-Service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect their country. This year's Field of Remembrance contains over 100,000 crosses, sent by supporters of the Royal British Legion and planted by volunteers.
These represented the many regiments, associations and individuals who remembered their loved ones, friends or comrades by dedicating their own Remembrance Cross, Star or Crescent to a life remembered.

The Duke of Edinburgh laid a cross and paid tribute to the war dead at the Graves of the Unknown British Soldiers, which honours those who died in the First and Second World Wars. Hundreds of veterans also gathered at the site where they undertook a two-minute silence before the Prince met with them to talk about the conflicts.
The official opening by Prince Philip was a ticket only event this year, but viewing the Field afterwards is open to all, so please come along if you can.
The Association will again be attending for 2012.
