Australia Valley
One of the
northern branches of the Aghyl Dere, named after the 4th Australian
Infantry Brigade who dug in and around its head on the 7th August
1915. This was approximately the positions at the photographer's
feet above. Its taken from the route over Gillespie Hill and along
Hoskins Walk. The latter is a prominent elevated track today which
featured connected posts linking the British positions of the Susak
Kuyu (front lines around Hill 60) and overlooking the Kaiajik Dere
from August 1915.
